Is it correct? Distant

Emotion: surprise

Hi everyone

in a job interview I was asked " why are you leaving your job and applying for a new one? "

And I said
It's really distant
I live in first square
And my work place is in 15th street .

I'm worried ??

I think my answer is dead wrong ??

It is not the natural way to say it, but it is clear and easy to understand. It is very far from my house (apartment); I'd like to work closer to home.
