Hi Everyone, please help to correct grammar of the following little message.

"Thank you so much for sharing the photos with us! George and Lily have grown up a lot! Though we are not be able to see them learn and grow each day due to our physical distance, we are always happy to have their news once in a while. George's new gel up hairstyle is just so cool and smart. Thinking that it should be styled from Auntie Shirley, right?"

For such casual writing, grammar rules are often relaxed.

I believe George should be so excited about it! Remind him that he ought to pay more attention in his English class to learn and practice well his English for the trip...haha! Tell him that we look forward to seeing him next time to come and will treat him to a meal with his most favourite food of onion soup!"

1. For the sentence, "Remind him that he ought to pay more attention in his English class to learning and practicing his English well for the trip..."

Here, after "to" ---> usually, we've to use bare inifinitive. Why now, we can use "~ing" form? Can you explain to me?

And, if I don't want to use the word, "ought to...." Can you advice me another better word to replace this and make it sounds more natural? (You know, to make the whole sentence more causal and humour)

2. Is it correct if I say, "You plan on having a vacation in the US in August."

3. Is it correct if I say, "I'll bring him to have his most favourite food, onion soup!"

The structure is 'pay attention to so mething'. The something neeeds to be a noun, or a word like a noun.

A gerund is a word like a noun. 'Learning' and 'practicing' are gerunds.

eg Pay attention to the teacher.

eg Pay attention to learning iregular verbs.

And, if I don't want to use the word, "ought to...." Can you advice me another better word to replace this and make it sounds more natural? (You know, to make the whole sentence more causal and humour)

3. Is it correct if I say, "I'll bring him to have his most favourite food, onion soup!" No.

'Bring' is not natural here. If you mean to a restaurant, use 'take'.

I've a question about the usage of active or passive voice in English.

I don't know if it's correct to say,

1. "My summer holiday will start at next week." or

2. "My summer holiday will be started at next week."

And, how about the preposition? "at" is using corrrectly here? Pls advice
