(Nothing wrong with "introduced," but I would reverse the sentence order to get rid of the passive voice: The people are fascinated by the new monkey being introduced at the zoo. You could also use "debut" or "unveil" for a similar meaning.)

It's a minor point, but usually earnings refer to the income that a company receives. They only make a profit if their income exceeds their expenses. A company can be earning billions, (as BP did in the second quarter of 2010), but still not be profitable.
