Is it better/correct in negative or positive?

Hello,

my question is about the sentece "... I was unable to have it". Please tell me if I'm wrong, but this form should be correct or better than ".. I wasn't able to have it", beacuse the first one is in a positive form. Thank you and, as always, since I still practicing my english, I'd appreciate if you could correct any mistake in this very post. Cheers.

I was unable to have it. I wasn't able to have it. These are both correct.

  • I was unable to have it.
  • I wasn't able to have it.
  • These are both correct.
  • I see no particular reason to think that the first is better than the second.
