is it an idiom?

Hi everybody.

I joined the community a few minutes ago and I really hope that someone could help me.

I am translating into Italian a documentary about a tour in Jamaica. The man who's speaking is going to play cricket for the first time and sais: "I've got to pull the pants up here".

Well, what does that mean? I guess it is more or less like "to pull one's socks up", but I'm not sure at all.

Thanks a lot for your precious help.

Not a familiar idiom to me either, Italyla. I agree with your supposition-- it seems reasonable. And welcome to English Forums!
