Is is and is :)
I have a question about the following sentence:
XYZ-Translation is a professional translation company, based in Canada and offering translation services in 35 different languages.
My friend and I are having a discussion if that sentence is using correct grammer. She said that it does, I say that it doesn't, because the "based" and the "offering" in the second part of the sentence both need their own "is", and they can't just use the "is" from the first part of the sentence. The reason for that is the different kinds of "is"s. The "is" in the first part of the sentence is a regular verb, the "is" that's supposed to come before the "based" is the "is" that's part of the passive verb, and the "is" that's to supposed to be in front of the "offering" is the kind of "is" that belongs to auxiliary verbs.
I think the correct form of the sentence would be:
XYZ-Translation is a professional translation company that's based in Canada and that is offering translation services in 35 different languages.
Is that correct, or am I putting too much importance into the different versions of "is"? I'm really curious if someone will have an answer to that!
