In simplistic terms, an adverb describes a verb and an adjective describes a noun. Therefore, if it's an adverb it cannot be describing the swimming pool. I believe that it is, in fact, describing the swimming pool in which case it is an adjective not an adverb. Though the case could be made that it's an adverb describing "is."Strange.
