Please tell me if the following sentences are grammatically correct as well as idiomatic.

Couldn't he get into trouble for doing this?

Could he not get into trouble for doing this?

I was somehow logged out before I posted the question, hence it was posted as anonymous. I am sorry about that.

Is the second one, the one that is more formal, more suited for tasks that require professionalism like writing a book, while #1 and #3 are more suitable for everyday speaking, madam?

You missed sentence #4. Contractions are acceptable in most every context. A traditional exception is formal writing such as a legal contract and formal ceremonies. I can't imagine your conversational-style sentences ever being used in such a formal context.
