Hello, I am hoping someone can help me with this question.
What is the difference between saying, "having bade farewell" and "having bid farewell" or "bidden farewell"?
Please let me know: is this formed with the auxiliary verb in the gerund, followed by a past tense, instead of by a past participle?
We usually use a clause beginning with HAVING + PAST PARTICIPLE rather than a present participle if the action of the main clause is the consequence of the event in the participle clause:
Example: "Having broken her leg the last time she went, Brenda decided not to go on the school skiing trip this year".
Thanks in advance for your explanations.
