Is "given" the right word in this sentence?

Hi,

I wonder if "given" is the correct word in my sentence below.

"Although the myoelectric activity of the neck muscles was not measured in this study, given the great degree of fatigue in the superficial muscles, these muscles were found to be responsible for the deep muscle activities."
