Is forming the ing-form conjugation?

Hi there,

is adding aspect to the verb by using the present or past participle to indicate the progressive form something that is called conjugation?

Or is only the addition of the third person singular -s a case of conjugation?

Thanks for your answers.

The - ing form is one of the three secondary forms in the verb paradigm, the other two being the plain form and the past participle. The secondary forms do not inflect for number, person or tense. I suppose you could use the term 'conjugation' for the various forms, but it does no work and hence is not needed.

"conjugation" is also the word that refers to the recital of these forms.
