Is force adjective?

Hello.

I think that "force" can be combined with adjectives as in (1).

(1) He was short of time and forced to hurry.

(If "forced" is verb, I think that it should be "short of time and was forced".)

Do you think that it is possible to regard "forced" as adjective?

Thank you.

In the sentence, based on the rule that words that belong to the same catgory can be combinedI think that "forced" is adjective, because it is coordinated with adjective "short".
