Is "for" doing the job I think it does?

Hello!

I'm wondering whether the underlined "for" is doing the job I think it does? Is this understandable and correct?

Every participant of the charity run received a commemorative medal and sweets from the Chocolate Factory for participation in the run and support to Austrian children.
