001. Regarding the two red parts, in such a context may I replace the first by "is to find" and the second by "is testing"? Do such replacements make any difference to the original meanings?02p

002. Regarding the blue part, I would like to replace "and that" by "which" because I understand here "which" points to "depression". In the original form, could you tell me what 01span00that02span00 points to and why putting "and" before "that"?02p

003. Regarding the pink part, may I put an article 01i01span00a or the02span02i00 before 01span00research?02span02p

00My attempt to answer your questions.02p

001. I suppose the first replacement "is finding" with "is to find" would be technically correct but it sounds very odd to my ear. The second replacement "is to test" with "is testing" is not correct, you could however say "is by testing". Neither of these changes would affect the meaning.02p

00Sorry, Clive, I made a mistake. I meant "that" can not be used to lead a subordinate clause after a comma. Do you think so? 02p
