Hi, Is "explain" an appropriate term in the below sentence?
In the ZBA test, speed and movement prediction improved significantly in 00–03 am nap group compared to 03–06 am group. A reason why 03–06 am nap did not show improvement can be explained by sleep inertia. Any other correction needed?
Thanks!

Yes, "explain" is fine. However I would use the article and change the 00-03 format to something more standard. m.
