Is "dream" a stative verb of action verb?

And is it transitive or intransitive?

I believe that it is an intransitive-stative verb, but I remember someone told me that intransitive-stative verbs will always be linking verb, And i believe "dream" isn't a linking verb.

Going my process of elimination, then it would be a transitive-stative verb but honestly I can't think of any example of the word "dream" without adding preposition. If it needs a preposition then it isn't a transitive verb anymore right?
This is really confusing

Please give me some example too.
And if you think it's an transitive verb, please kindly give me some example without using preposition.

"Dream" is not a stative verb. It is an action verb that is generally intransitive or used with the prepositions "of" or "about". Generally, transitive stative verbs are mental states of being that can be "caused by" whatever the object is -- e.g. "I love her" -- "love" is a mental state of being that is caused by the object, "her". Same with want: "I want a burger." ---> "Want" is a mental
