When I thumbed my diary paper, saving the baby from the destructive fire came into my sight.
Do you think the bold part is natural? I believe it should be either "daily paper" or "diary pages".
(I have also searched Corpus. There is no occurrence for "diary paper".)
If I were a writer, I would say: "While I thumbed through my diary" or "While reviewing my diary".
