Hi,
Is "decide" the correct and common verb in this sentence? Any other corrections needed?
"Because there are a few studies on the effect of artificial light intensity on cortisol and melatonin levels during the day, and most research has studied the changes in the level of these hormones at night, and because of the contradictory studies that exist, we decided to conduct this study with the aim of investigating the effect of different light levels of 300, 5000 and 8000 lux on the levels of cortisol and melatonin hormones in male rats."
Thanks!
"decide" is fine. The rest is also OK, but I have a question about your use of "a few". I'm thinking that maybe you mean "few", not "a few".

... there are a few studies ... ~ ... there are a small number of studies ...
... there are few studies ... ~ ... there are not very many studies ...
What do you think?
