In this sentence: "Stop comparing yourself to others." am I correct in believing "comparing" is a gerund or present participle acting as a noun serving as a direct object to the verb stop? If correct, then "yourself to others" I believe serves as an object complement describing the "comparing". I believe too that the whole "comparing yourself to others" is the actual direct object.
