Is "being" need here?

Sentence: With regard to certain information in the screenshot being blotted out, it was done with the intention of protecting privacy.

PS: By blotted out I mean that certain information has been blackened/darkened/blurred in the screenshot..I hope you get what I mean by that.

Question: Not being able to figure out whether the "being" is needed there or not. Could you help me?

Shorten it to save yourself from the decision. It's way too long anyway, and it doesn't sound quite right either with or without 'being'.
