Is back needed

In the sentence below, is "back" necessary? If so, would you please explain why? Don't you think that just "bring" is enough?

I agree with you that it is not necessary. But I wouldn't say that 'back' is wrong. It seems to add a bit of emphasis.

I agree with you that it is not necessary.

But I wouldn't say that 'back' is wrong. It seems to add a bit of emphasis.

"Back" means that he obtained your nice thing abroad (or at least at the duty-free at the airport). Without "back", that is not explicit. But that is not really why we say it. "Back" is just pretty much de rigueur in that statement.
