I have doubt over the word "Avatar". Based on your definition, "Avatar" is a sanskrit word. But We have a new movie released with the name "Avatar" by James Cameroon. So does it mean, James is indeed referrring the sanskrit word

It means incarnation came from sankrit. This has a origin in India in Hindu Myth this is a very common word used to describe Gods incarnation and coming in another form intothe world. The word Avatar will become like the word 'Nirvana' which also came from India Hinduism/Buddhism.

Please refrain from using the word 'myth' just because westerners use it or maybe because Greek or Roman mythology is dead today. Hinduism or Sanatana Dharma on the other hand is very much alive and getting stronger every day.
