Is ‘as a way of’ correctly used in my sentence?
My professor has given variations to “Very good” as a way of giving compliments to us students. For example, she has said “Excellent!” “Awesome!” and the like to those who have given clear and exact answers to her questions.

Nope, "variations" is plural, so "as ways" must be plural, it's not "variations to" but "variations of", and there should be a comma between "Excellent!" and "Awesome!".
