Is anything missing

Hello people,

Would anybody answer the following question?

Does't the sentence

"Utah Rep. Jason Chaffetz says he will resign his congressional

seat effective June 30." [www.npr.org]

need "of" or "as of" before "June 30"?

Or does it work on its own?

Regards,

Ray

I would say it might just need a comma before "effective."
