Which is correct?

1. I need to know if any of you is an expert.

2. I need to know if any of you are an expert

Technically, the first is correct. Unfortunately, the second is also very common. It could be corrected to "if any of you are expert s ".

Below is from the Collins Cobuild Dictionary. 'Any' can take a singular or plural noun depending on context. 

 You use any in statements with negative meaning to indicate that no thing or person of a particular type exists, is present, or is involved in a situation.
           I never make any big decisions...
           We are doing this all without any support from the hospital.

With regard to I need to know if any of you is an expert, I suggest that we often avoid any perceived awkwardness by paraphrasing,

eg
I need to know if anyone here is an expert.

the answer is "is". Any is an indefinite singular pronoun
