Is an object needed?

Do you say "How did you know?" or "How did you know that?" I think the word "know" needs an object, but I've found the former sentence. Thanks always:)

Top answer

Both are possible. 'Know' does not have to have an object: A: I had my car stolen yesterday. B: I know.
