Is an article necessary in this context?

I want a bicycle, (a) computer and (a) guitar.

Is it necessary to have an article before every noun?

I'm also very confused on when to use 'the'.

Thanks a lot Emotion: smile

Use the indefinite article (a) before each noun. Use the definite article (the) when you are being specific. I would like a guitar for Christmas.
