Is "Although" correctly used?

The drain was badly choked. Two workmen arrived. They tried their best to clear the choke. Although they left after doing their best, the drain was still choked. They promised to come the next day as their working hours were over.

Is "Although" correctly used? If not, could you please explain why t is wrongly used? Are there other mistakes in the sentence?

Thanks.

My apology, Barbara,

The double posting was unintentional. I realised it, but I was unable to erase the later post.

I suggest that the poster be given a grace of 10 minutes instead instead of, I believe, 5. I hope my suggestion is implemented.

Thanks.

No. It says that the drain was still clogged in spite of the fact that they left without unclogging it, which is nonsense. You meant to say that the drain was still clogged after they tried their best to unclog it:

"The drain was badly clogged. Two workmen arrived. They tried their best to clear the blockage.
