Advertising is all around us; it is an unavoidable part of everyone’s life. Some people say that advertising is a positive part of our lives. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Nowadays, the existence of advertising in every means of media as a product marketing strategy has become an inevitable part of people’s lives. While one school of thought says that advertising brings plenty of benefits, I strongly believe that its disadvantages are so significant that it should be put into limitation.
There are several adverse impacts of excessive advertising on people's everyday lives. First of all, a lot of people feel frustrated with spam advertisements popping up whenever they access websites or social networks such as Google, Facebook, Youtube, etc. These advertisements could make up a huge junk data storage and thus take everybody a huge amount of time just to delete or click ignoring them every day. Another disadvantage of advertising is that it could ease the way for cybercrimes. Many hackers could make illegal money by stealing personal information from people who click trap advertisements.
Some people believe advertising could produce many benefits but they may not realize the negative aspects behind them. For instance, some people think they can take advantage of advertising to better understand product features, but most advertising is made up with all disadvantageous features being hidden. Therefore, not a few people are swayed by advertisements and later get disappointed when they see the advertisement - reality discrepancy. Besides, some people also let their children watch advertisements all day long due to the eye-catching images and effects. However, they may not notice that some advertisements have inappropriate content related to violence or sexual issues that adversely affects children’s mental wellness.
In conclusion, advertising has a lot of adverse effects such as creating junk information, having a high risk of personal information lost, exaggerate, or inappropriate content. Thus, I would completely suggest that advertising should be considered a negative part of people’s lives rather than a positive one.
