Is a preposition necessary?

Is a preposition necessary in this sentence?

"What I will be doing next is [to] prepare our dinner."

or should it be;

"What I will be doing next is preparing our dinner."
"What I will be doing next is that I wil be preparing our dinner."

'What I will be doing next is preparing our dinner'.

To is not a preposition here. It's the infinitive particle. In my opinion both prepare and to prepare are correct.
