Is a comma needed?



"It was performed at Palais Garnier, the Opera House named after the architect, Charles Garnier.
"Does the sentence need comma between "architect" and "Charles"?

Sometimes the appositive and the word it identifies are so closely related that the comma can be omitted, as in "His wife Eleanor suddenly decided to open her own business." (from [url=http://grammar.ccc.commnet.edu/grammar/commas.htm]HERE[/url]).

Should you want your readers to make a break (audible or not) after "architect," yes, you should use it.

Should you want direct continuation with his name, you shouldn't use it.

It's not the same listening feeling.
