what is irregularity in English linguistics?

i am just asking because i don't get what it is in linguistics.

I suppose that there all kinds of irregularities in linguistics: Verb forms: run/ran Spelling: weird , geared, cheered; bore, boar Pronunciation: row (a boat), row (= a fight) Number: one child, two children Collocation: like to play, enjpy playing etc.
