Irony, please settle an argument.

I was going at it with a buddy about weather or not Pamela Anderson's recent actions are ironic. I've had people argue both ways. Here's the link.

Ironic? I see the hypocrisy. Also, I feel a sense of irony behind her recent actions. Considering she as on the the Tommy Lee video and she's been on the cover of playboy.

Cousin- Depends if you deem what Tommy Lee was meant for circulation as porn. Situational Irony. Else hypocrisy.

Me- Yea she was also in almost 20 issues of playboy

Cousin-Nope. Knowledge = hypothesis. Ignorance is irony

Me-Isn't it ironic in the sense that it's the opposite of what you'd expect her to say?

Cousin-No. In pure literary sense Hypocrisy is doing the opposite if what you say. Irony is when you do it without knowing.

I'm still a little confused when I brought this up with my English major buddy who said it actually could be argued both ways.

Can someone settle this?
