ironically?

After we spoke on Live Chat the other day, ironically I was the one who received your online order.

This is about a high speed internet order I put online from a company. After putting the order, I recieved an email from this guy asking for my payment info. I just do not understand why ironically is being used here.

I myself would like to use these alternatives like interestingly, funily, or fortunately. Or simply say something like this: ..., I happened to be the one who received your online order.

Any comment about this? Thanks a lot.

I agree. The only thing that might make it ironic is if he had searched high and low for your order, been unable to find it, and then received it as a forward from some other worker. Unless he's trying to make it sound like they have a staff of hundreds working around the clock to fill international orders, when really it's just this guy in his mom's basement.

  • You're sure this is a legit company, right?
