"iron army" - how to parahprashe the sentence?

Dear All,

How can I parahprase the following sentence? The person wanted to express the fact that the company is a leading construction engineering enterprise in subway construction.

We are an “urban underground iron army” in reality as well in name.

My proposal: We are a champion of subway construction not only by our name but also in reality.

Nevertheless, I don't like the second part of the sentence.

How about:

We are champions of subway construction both in theory and in practice.

What I wanna grasp here is the fact that it's not just words (not just the name) that prove we are a trustworthy company...
