Dear Sir/Madam, My wife is applying for a marriage visa and she has been told by a friend that I have to write a letter of invitation. When I mentioned this to an immigration lawyer he told me there was no need as she is applying for a marriage visa and she has the marriage certificate, proof of income, bank account details with sufficient funds to support herself and she is a school principle with a degree. I have all the proof of our meetings and correspondance and proof that I have somewhere for her to live when she arrives here. Back to this letter of invitation. Who would I make it out to and where would I take it to be stamped/made official. I know nothing about such invitations. It seems everytime we think we will finally be together, some obstacle gets in our way. I would be eternally grateful if you could shed some light on this subject as we are both longing to be together again after spending so much money meeting each other in Turkey for weeks at a time. My wife is Iraqi and I am a British national (born)
yours sincerely, Paul

Hi, Surely the simplest thing would be to phone and ask the British govt. what you need to do. Here is what seems to be the appropriate website.
