This seems oh-so-very-formal to me....but it might make sense, depending on who the "Team" is. If it's a football team, I would use that kind of wording.

If it's free, why mention the "sponsor"?
Either we're generous, or we're trying to advertise for ourselves?

Really? I see nothing wrong with it. Just because someone is generous does not mean they desire anonymity. It seems appropriate to me.

Perhaps American customs are different.
