Inversion of the subject-verb order with in direct speech

Could you confirm whether both of the following sentences are right? Thank you in advance.

1. "Why does he look so tired today?", asked Jane.
2. "He couldn’t sleep last night,” replied Tom.

1. "Why does he look so tired today?" asked Jane. [no comma]
2. "He couldn’t sleep last night,” replied Tom.
Correct as shown. If the quote ends with a question mark, we don't add a comma.
