inversion absolutely required?

(1) Only when you have received enough affection can you love others.
(2) Only when you have received enough affection, you can love others.

Grammatically, is (2) completely wrong? Or is it acceptable as well?

Only #1 is correct.

Yes, you can't say Only when you have received enough affection, you can love others.

However, you can say You can love others only when you have received enough affection.

Because it sounds wrong to the ears of native speakers. I'm sure there's a grammatical explanation somewhere (and I admit I haven't a clue what it would be), but when learning languages, don't forget that whatever sounds wrong to native speakers is wrong by definition

Only by studying very hard will he pass his examination.

If he studies hard, he will pass his examination.

Inversion is necessary in such constructions if 'only' is the first word in the sentence.
