Inversion (2)

Please read:

1.I'm sure I would enjoy that were I to do it.

2.I'm sure I would enjoy that I were to do it.

I think (1) is incorrect. If not, please tell me the inversion rule here.

This is an inversion of the sentence 'I'm sure I would enjoy that, if I were to do it' - there is an 'if clause' here and hence 'if I were' is inverted to 'were I'.
