Inversion

"If you are not able to afford the XXX, there are less expensive models in the range."

Official answer:

"Should you not be able to afford the XXX, there are less expensive models in the range."

Can I write:

"Were you not able to afford the XXX, there are less expensive models in the range."

Thanks.

Thanks.

Should you not be ... can be used in place of If you are not ... and of If you were not... .

Were you not ... can be used in place of If you were not ... but not in place of If you are not ... .
