inversion

1. Kim is running down the street/line/drawing line etc.

I saw some sentences that are inverted and heard this often happens in sports broadcast.

So #1 can be inverted like this?: Down the line running is Kim. ~~@##@$ shoot! and goal!!

I can't make a good example... anyway is that inversion correct?
Could you give me some good examples of the sort?

Top answer

"Down the line running is Kim" is not right. "Running down the line is Kim" is possible; it might used if it was already known/apparent that someone was running down the line, in order to identify that person as Kim.

Then what kind of inversion is this?
I found this sentence in my book.

Down the man came from upstairs.

This is a slightly unusual word order. It might be used in a story for colour or variety.

Ah Okay. Then can I say "Coming down from upstairs is/was John(or the man)" assuming that it was already known that someone was coming down from upstairs?

Yes, that's possible, but "The person coming down from upstairs is/was John" would probably be more common in this situation.
