Inversion?

Sentence:

Prominent among the most prominent upon the most prominent shelf were series of splendidly bound volumes entitled "Skinner's Works".

I think the normal sequence should be like this:

Series of splendidly bound volumes among the most prominent upon the most prominent shelf entitled "Skinner's Works" were prominent.

Am I right?

Thanks for your opinion!

That's an interesting sentence. But I'd say undoing the inversion is somewhat less complicated: Series of splendidly bound volumes entitled "Skinner's Works" were prominent among the most prominent upon the most prominent shelf .
