Introduction to my Internship Portfolio

My name is Raya Louw. I am a 20 year old young lady born on the 21st of September 1991. I view myself as a very ambitious person and I am ever ready and willing to make sacrifices to archieve my goals and dreams. I am currently a second year student studying Tourism Management and am in the course of doing my in-service training. I aspire to become the CEO of a leading Events Management or Tour Operating company. I am also a person with a passion for growth and development not only of myself, but of other people as well. As such, I would also love, at some point in my carreer, to establish a company or organisation that would solely support a cause such as housing orphaned children or counselling for abused youths and teenagers. To help me to archieve this, I plan get my Masters Degree or a PhD in my area of expertise and then work my way to the top. Although this might be hard, I am willing to do what it takes to archieve my goals.

During this short period that I have been doing my in-service, I have learnt a lot about what I can expect from the industry in future. I feel that I am more enlightened now and I know that there is still a long way to go for me in terms of learning and growth. The training I have been receiving has been in depth and includes some areas that I did not expect to find in Tourism such as the need for an extensive knowledge of information technology. I can also now see that what we are taught at times in University may be different from what we find in the real world of professionalism. In spite of this, I believe that the future is bright and that there is still hope, no matter the circumstances, to make a difference in the society.
