Introduction

Can someone give correct or give me suggetions for my introduction to the play "The Pushcart Peddlers"?

That's what i have written so far:

"The given extract from the play “The Pushcart Peddlers” written by Murray Shisgal and published in 1980, deals ironically with the American Dream of two Jewish immigrants.
The main characters of the play are Shimmel Shitzman and Cornelius J. Hollingsworth (former: Crapavarnishkes). Shitzman and Hollingsworth sell bananas in a partnership with a pushcart in the harbour of New York.
Shitzman remains in an inferior position during the whole play, since Hollingsworth arrived one day earlier in America. He tries to abuse Shitzman’s inexperience in order to maximize his own profit by taking advantage in negotiations.
Shortly before the given scene takes place, Maggie Cutwell is introduced to the audience: she pretends to be blind and sells flowers with a pushcart, whereas she wants to be a famous actress.

In the following I am going to analyse the scene by characterizing Shimmel’s and Cornelius’ behaviour and by pointing out comical elements.

Do you need to explain the background to the scene? Or can the reader be assumed to already know all that? Clive
