ASEAN stands for the Association of South Asia Nations a political and economic union of 10 member states in South Asia .It was formed on August 8th, 1967 in Bangkok, Thailand by the Founding Fathers of ASEAN: Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. Vietnam joined ASEAN on 28 July 1995.ASEAN countries have a total population of 668 million people and a combined GDP of $ 3.2 trillion. The group has played a central role in Asian economic integration, joining negotiations to form the world’s largest free trade agreement and signing six free trade deals with other regional economies .In short, ASEAN has built and maintained peace, and stability for decades. This is an important premise for the growth of ASEAN. And Vietnam had more chances to develop as a member of ASEAN.
