Intrasitive verbs

I am confused about Intrasitive and transitive verbs and can not differentiate between them. Please tell me rules that I may be able to differentiate between transitive and intransitive verbs. Also provide me list of Intransitive and Transitive verbs.

Providing a list of those verbs would be a gargantuan task as there are thousands of them. In dictionaries transtive verbs are often marked v.t. (= verb transitive) and intransitive verbs are marked v.i.(= verb intransitive). If you want a list of them, you'll have to compile it yourself!

I would like to add to CB's excellent explanation that a transitive verb MUST have an object for the sentence to express a complete thought. It may not have to be stated if it's understood in the context of the conversation, but if you say only "I donated" or "She told," those are not complete thoughts. (Just a stronger statement than his "can" have an object.)
