Respected Teachers,

"When you compress something it deforms into upfolds and downfolds"

I want to know if the preposition into is correctly placed

'Into' seems OK. But 'deforms' sounds odd, And what do you mean by 'upfolds and downfolds'? I don't know these terms.

When pushing a cloth or something else with your both hands towards its centre, it will form wrinkles rising into up
and down folds. Like the crest [upfoads] and trough [downfolds] of a wave.

Thank you
