Intestine

Hi,

1) Let's say that my dog has an infection of the intestine. Would it mean something else if I said that she has a bowel infection or that she has an inflammation of the intestine?

2) If I did something that would make my flowerbeds look nicer, could I use the word 'tone up'?

"I put a few lights in the flowerbeds and they have really toned them up."

Thank you.
