Interview about??

I would like to know if this sentences are correct:

1. The singer was interviewed about her new life as a married woman.

2. The singer was asked about her new life as a married woman during the interview.

I feel that sentence 1 is somewhat awkward, whereas 2 seems correct to me, more "natural". Can I say "interview about/concerning" a specific topic? Is said construction idiomatic?

Please let me know.
